Advantages of water jet cutting

The water jet can cut practically any shape in the surface of the material. The only limiting factor is the limitation of the water jet's circular cut and the strength of the actual material being cut - it must bear itself. Very detailed contours can also be cut.

The main advantages of water jet cutting

  • Cold cut - there is no thermal influence on the material being cut and thus no structural changes.
  • The jet puts minimal strain on the material being cut - microcracks do not form.
  • Versatility - it cuts almost any material. Even materials that are very difficult to cut and cannot be machined in another way can be cut.
  • The cut is without any of burrs - there is generally no need for subsequent machining, deburring or bevelling.
  • The ability to make even the most complex shapes with a single operation, including through holes and grooves.

It is possible to achieve a high utilization of the semi-finished products due to the small diameter of the jet and the possibility of stacking multiple shapes on a single semi-finished product. The minimum gaps between the products are 3-5 mm. In some cases, it is also possible to advantageously use a "joint cut" for two parts at a time. This results in considerable savings in production. A small "cut" through the material = material savings.

Last but not least, using water jet cutting is environmentally friendly - no harmful fumes are created.
